According to A.J. Perez at Front Office Sports, here is what investigators are hoping to uncover regarding the Washington Commanders saga:

  • The debt load (Daniel) Snyder has undertaken could be impacting the team’s finances. Snyder received a debt waiver from the league’s owners at the NFL’s annual meeting a year ago in order to finance a large chunk of the nearly $1 billion used to purchase the 40% of the franchise he didn’t already own.
  • The committee is seeking interviews and documents related to allegations that the Commanders used deceptive accounting practices. Per the NFL’s Constitution and Bylaws, clubs are required to submit a certified audit report annually.
  • Investigators also received allegations of pay disparity between male and female employees, including bonuses.

You mean to tell me the guy who made his money illegally by scamming poor people, immigrants, diabetics, and cancer patients might, in fact, still be scamming on a different level? And now he might actually be poor because he had to buy the other 40% from his partners because they didn’t want to deal with his shit any longer? Jim Young was a scam artist at J.T. Marlin, but at least he was liquid:

Imagine Congress starting their original investigation because of the terrible workplace culture and finding more illegal shit midway through. Who would’ve thought that’d be a possibility with squeaky clean Dan Snyder at the helm? Maybe if he was able to still charge his $4 “9/11 Safety Tax” with every ticket the bottom line would be black instead of looking like Carson Wentz’s neck after another breakout:

They started in HR and now they’re moving their way over to Finance. What bodies are they going to uncover when they get to Legal or Sales or IT?

Selfishly I don’t want Dan Snyder to be forced to sell the team because I think he’s doing an amazing job building a winner and he’s actually just misunderstood. But if he’s going to be forced to sell I’m going to need those 650,000 emails released. No shot Jon Gruden’s correspondence even scratched the surface. Though Roger Goodell is expected to take the stand some time in the near future for a hearing, and I promise you I’ll find C-SPAN like I find TruTV every March to watch some DC lawyer ask him questions about what it’s like being an “anti-football pussy” right to his smug face.
