Sorry we’re like three hours late to this. We were preparing for the new Crossing Broadcast that streamed today on YouTube when the news broke. You can subscribe here. We even touched on the Bryce Harper injury a little bit.

Scott Lauber and Jim Salisbury broke the news we all figured was coming. Bryce Harper is going to be out for six weeks, which puts him on the IL until around mid-August:

Is Bryce Harper Philly tough? A true Philly guy would use a WaWa Italian shortie as a splint, bundle it in Tastykake wrapper, and gut it out. Gotta wonder if the contract is an overpay now. Hot take: the team didn’t make the playoffs with Bryce putting up MVP numbers. Now with his absence and this payroll they should have enough guys to step up and keep it rolling full steam ahead. It’s not like we can make any excuses wither. The Mets have been without Jacob DeGrom and Max Scherzer for most of the season and are a top-5 team in baseball while the Braves won the World Series without Ronald Acuna Jr. last year. Time to nut up or shut up.

Live look at Dave Dombrowski’s trade deadline:

P.S. If today couldn’t get worse, Zach Eflin was just placed on the 15 day IL with a right knee bruise. Sucks for the Phillies whose starters have one of the best WAR metrics in the MLB. Sucks for Eflin as he’ll be a free agent next year. Ultimate what-if career if he was able to stay healthy:
