As expected, Philadelphia was named on Thursday as one of the American cities that will host World Cup games in 2026. We had to wait forever for the actual announcement to come, because these stupid FIFA shows go on forever. They are BRUTAL. They interview everybody they can find and milk it worse than Greg Gumbel announcing March Madness. It is an absolutely excruciating viewing experience. We had to sit through Becky G and a couple of player interviews and all sorts of assorted nonsense.

Alas, this was the reaction from the Love Park watch party:

Pretty sick. This is a big deal for us since we missed out on the 1994 World Cup and 2026 marks an important anniversary for the U.S.A. and the City of Philadelphia.

Look at the list of stuff taking place here:

Here’s the entire rundown of stadiums for the 2026 tournament, which will be held in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico:

  • Vancouver: BC Place
  • Seattle: Lumen Field
  • San Francisco: Levi’s Stadium
  • Los Angeles: SoFi Stadium
  • Guadalajara: Estadio Akron
  • Kansas City: Arrowhead
  • Dallas: Jerry World
  • Atlanta: Mercedes-Benz Stadium
  • Houston: NRG Stadium
  • Monterrey: Estadio BBVA
  • Mexico City: Estadio Azteca
  • Toronto: BMO Field
  • Boston: Gillette Stadium
  • Philadelphia: Lincoln Financial Field
  • Miami: Hard Rock Stadium
  • New York City: MetLife

Not gonna lie, I got really nervous when they announced Boston. I thought for sure we were gonna get dicked over, but we did not. For me, two Texas cities was a surprise, and I thought Nashville deserved a bid over Boston. Bob Kraft probably bribed FIFA. Corruption!
