Jim Gardner Sounded Like a Seasoned Vet Calling Two Innings of the Phillies Game

The play-by-play starts at 21:45. My only gripe is we don’t get to see the most famous mustache in the Delaware Valley:

Are we surprised this was good? Absolutely not. Jim described the play, added anecdotes about players, and made observations about Pete Alonso’s plate approach like he’s been doing it all his life. Could we see a three-man booth in the future? Maybe if Jim gets bored in retirement he and LA can split color duties.

We even got this funny exchange between Scott Franzke and Jim before he signed off:

Gardner -“Scott, what did Vierling do in his first at bat?”
Franzke -“Popped out to first”
Gardner -“Thank you”
Franzke -“Back to you Jim…always wanted to be able to say that”
