Yes, it’s somewhat corny to sit here and rip the Mets when they are still 10.5 games ahead of the Phillies in the NL East, but did anybody not see this coming? New York has lost five of eight, and with Atlanta surging, the Braves and Mets are now tied atop the division at 81-50.

It would be quite the spectacle to get a Phils/Mets wild card series, which is in play if NY and ATL continue to move in their respective directions.

As it stands, the current wild card matchups:

  • Rays vs. Mariners
  • Guardians vs. Blue Jays
  • Phils vs. Braves
  • Cards vs. Padres

Would be cool to see the Mariners and Phils both end their playoff droughts in the same season.
