McGillins sold green beer for the Eagles Super Bowl run and blue beer for Nova’s:
DYK: For the first time in @McGillins 158 year history, we're serving green beer on a day that's not St. Patrick's Day. Be part of the history making crowd cheering on the #Eagles tomorrow! pic.twitter.com/n6fUOLTnCY

No fooling! We will have blue beer for the @NovaMBB game on Saturday. NOT an #AprilFoolsDay joke. Join us @McGillins for #MarchMadness games! #FinalFour @NovaAthletics @VillanovaU @VillanovaAlumni #Villanova pic.twitter.com/0NwYkpFTKy

I love McGillin’s. I hate colored beer. Maybe I’m just a pussy, but dyed beer throws me off. Imagine the DADS you’re having the next day. Is that blood in the stool or is my shit the same color as Charizard because I drank $10.50 pitchers of red beer all night? In the end it doesn’t matter, because it worked for the Eagles and it worked for Nova so it’s basically a rite of passage you go down there and drink all the red beer in sight.
They’re also offering new food options. McGillin’s has sneaky good food. The chicken tenders and wings are a go-to. I’ve even had a chicken caesar salad there that I’d order again. Why chicken caesar at an Irish bar during the Birds? Mind your fucking business, that’s why. Here are the new options:
- MVP – Meatloaf, Vidalia Onion Rings, Provolone. Topped with BBQ sauce, bacon, ranch, Texas toast. $11.99
- The Vet – A South Philly Classic. Grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, provolone, tomato, ham, salami, mixed greens, red wine vinaigrette. $11.99
- Grandslam – Clear the Bases with this Epic Sampler! Cheesesteak Eggroll, Mozzarella sticks, Buffalo tender bites, Fried Mushrooms. $11.99
- Ring the Bell – Cheesesteak stuffed roasted red pepper, with fried onions, provolone, served over mashed potatoes, homemade tomato sauce. $12.99
No to the meatloaf. Yes to the sampler. The Vet? Sure. The Ring the Bell has piqued my interest.
