No Way the Ump Was Calling this a Ball

NLCS, Game 1 – in the bottom of the fourth inning, Juan Soto ripped a ball into the ground, it rolled down the first base line, and the ump blew the play dead, I think because he thought it hit Soto in the foot. They gathered all of the loser umps together and determined that the ball was not foul, so they had no choice but to put Soto back at the plate with a 3-2 count.

Not gonna lie, I chortled audibly when that happened. Zack Wheeler may have barely got the corner there, but anything close was gonna be called a strike anyway. Actually, Wheeler could have thrown that ball to Chula Vista and it would have been strike three. Strike four, actually, since Soto got the baseball version of a cat with extra lives there.
