Avonte Maddox Out Indefinitely With "Significant Toe Injury"

#Eagles CB Avonte Maddox suffered a significant toe injury, per me and @MikeGarafolo. He had his MRI this morning to confirm the news that he's out indefinitely. Philly does have CJ Gardner-Johnson eligible to come off IR and is a possibility to play in the slot.

We knew something was coming after it was reported Maddox was walking around in a boot after the game, but this still sucks. Significant toe injuries don’t just go away in a month. Maddox was playing awesome before he went out on Sunday:

If there’s any solace you can take with this injury it’s that CJGJ could come off IR this week for a revenge game against the team that didn’t want to pay him. There’s also this from Deniz Selman who had an interesting thought about using CJGJ in the slot: 

If Avonte Maddox isn't okay, remember that the #Eagles have one of the best slot corners in the league about to come back from IR. Can easily see a world where Epps and CJGJ are the safeties in base, and then CJGJ moves to the slot with Blankenship at safety in nickel.
