Gotta say, Sunday’s game was the most entertaining of this Eagles’ season. Not only did the Birds layeth the smacketh down, but there were two punting sequences that made me laugh out loud, obviously Arryn Siposs with the scoop and scamper up the sideline (featuring a late hit that wasn’t called), and then New York’s Jamie Gillan (aka The Scottish Hammer) with the ‘ole rugby kick after the ball slipped out of his hands:

Not sure why this is so funny to me, but I’ve now watched that clip at least 50 times. The reactive motion is so goofy looking.

I didn’t actually notice this at first, but the ball clocked Nakobe Dean in the helmet after Gillan shinned it onto his foot. It’s actually a miracle that he made any contact with this ball, since he could have whiffed entirely:

Funny enough, the ball was snapped at the Giants’ 43 yard line on 4th and 7, then the penalty was enforced from the spot of the foul, so the Eagles started at the New York 33, meaning the punt resulted a net yardage gain of minus 10 yards.

I wonder why they suck so much at punting? They drop snaps, kick the ball to DeSean Jackson, and there was also this one time where Sean Landeta completely whiffed and Chicago just picked up the ball and ran it into the end zone.

Jamie Gillan’s drop kick is right up there with the butt punt. Mount Rushmore of greatest punts ever.
