Alright I’m back, sorry about that. Sinus infection or something.

Here’s Micah Parsons on Von Miller’s show talking about Jalen Hurts, a quote that has now gone viral:

Listening to this a few times, it’s not as bad as I originally thought. When Parsons talks about “system and team,” it essentially means Hurts is the product of the scheme, which is certainly shady. It’s disrespectful, and I get that, but the rest of the clip? I think Von Miller does a good job giving credit where it’s due while Parsons reluctantly obliges.

My take is that Micah has a bit of PTSD here because he was schemed into oblivion with college-style option plays in the first Eagles/Cowboys game. Remember that? They just isolated him on those zone reads and RPOs, to pretty devastating effect:

In football terms, those plays are nothing fancy. They come out of the Alabama and Oklahoma playbooks Hurts studied in college. And the truth is that the Eagles run a lot of college concepts at the pro level because, well, Hurts is good at them! He is elite at reading unblocked perimeter players and making the right reads. What you’re seeing here is the final form of Pat White and Dennis Dixon, had they gone on to excel in the NFL.

Parsons is just a little butt hurt because he got wrecked by college plays in October.
