From Jeff McKay at All Access:

Where JOSH INNES is going is still a mystery, but he has announced that he’s leaving iHEARTMEDIA WNRQ (105.9 THE ROCK)/NASHVILLE for what he has described as a job he’s “coveted for a long time.”

INNES posted on INSTAGRAM, “I thank everyone at iHEARTMEDIA NASHVILLE for the opportunity to hold down mornings at 105.9 The Rock for two years. I worked for really amazing people. I worked with so many awesome folks. The listeners were incredible and helped take us from 11th place all the way up to the top. I truly appreciate the awesome two years. I’ve been offered an opportunity that I’ve coveted for a long time. I’ll give you more details when I can.”

Naturally, people want to know if this “coveted” opportunity is in Philadelphia. I can’t imagine it would be, since WIP would never bring Josh back and Beasley made a previous attempt before it fell apart. They originally talked to him about doing some kind of part time/weekend thing, but it ultimately wasn’t worth the hassle because there were lingering issues from his time at 94.1.

If enough time passed, and enough people came and went from both WIP and the Fanatic, I guess you could foresee a Josh return at some point. Mike Missanelli is no longer at 97.5, so that conflict would not exist. Gargano, however, remains, so that probably wouldn’t fly. You get what I’m saying.

Beyond that, every major day part at both stations is currently filled by under-contract talent, so there’s no shift for him to work right now anyway.

Josh says on Twitter he’ll reveal the new destination soon.
