NHL Trade Deadline: Flyers Fail to Move James van Riemsdyk

What an ELECTRIFYING trade deadline for the Flyers.
They moved Zack MacEwen for a 2024 5th rounder and Brendan Lemieux. Then they sent Patrick Brown to the Senators for a 2023 sixth round pick, though a potential move for James van Riemsdyk reportedly fell through:
JVR was not traded before the deadline. Unreal. Just absolute awful work by the GM.

So JVR was allegedly going to be moved to Detroit, but the deal was unable to be completed for reasons that have yet to be confirmed. Will update the story when we get that.
EDIT – here’s that nugget:
Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher says he “didn't receive a firm offer from any team'' on JVR. Says they spoke with one team about a trade concept. But it was conditional on that team making another move. And that move didn't happen. Worked the market hard past few weeks but no fit.

Regardless, JVR is on an expiring contract and will walk after the season, so the Flyers got absolutely nothing for him. Great job! Bag it to broad.
