Somehow, someway, the Phillies Graham Slam was discontinued due to lack of sales in 2017. I don’t believe it. It was the perfect mix of graham flavored ice cream with marshmallow filled choco cups and a graham cracker swirl. Legend has it Matt Stairs ate two tubs of Graham Slam the night before he ripped one into the LA night:
For the younger generation that doesn’t get how monumental this comeback is, it’s like Jordan returning from baseball after his two-year gambling suspension. If you don’t understand that reference, it’s like LeBron deciding to “retire” from basketball in his prime, going to play tight end for the Cowboys for two years, and then coming back out of nowhere. All the Graham Slam has to do is send a fax saying “I’m back” (or a tweet). It was a staple in every shopping cart from ACME to Genuardi’s to Giant and beyond. It was as synonymous with a grocery list as apples and bananas at one point. You’d eat dinner, turn on the game, and listen to Harry Kalas say Mike Lieberthallll with a bowl of Graham Slam keeping you company. It got us through those lean early-2000s years and after the 2008-11 dynasty run. Then one day it just disappeared like a Cliff Lee fart in the wind.
There is nobody happier with this news than the legend, Frankie Two Scoops:
