The Phillies-Atlanta Braves game originally scheduled on Thursday, September 14, at 4:05 p.m. will now be played on Monday, September 11, at 6:40 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park.

“Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Braves, Major League Baseball and the reigning NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles, we were fortunate to be able to move our game to Monday night on September 11,” said Phillies Executive Vice President David Buck. “This was an easy decision for all, as the move to avoid conflicting game times is a win for Philadelphia sports fans. It will no doubt be a fun and busy week in the Sports Complex with the Phillies-Braves series September 11-13, followed by the Eagles-Vikings game on Thursday, September 14 at 8:15 p.m.”

“We greatly appreciate the willingness of the Phillies, the Braves and Major League Baseball to adjust their schedule,” said Eagles President Don Smolenski. “In what has shaped up to be a very busy week in Philadelphia sports, this accommodation is a tremendous example of our close relationship with our friends at the Phillies. Our organizations are philosophically aligned on providing our fans the best experience possible on gameday, and this adjustment will help to alleviate any congestion concerns in the Sports Complex that arise when multiple events are held concurrently.”

Fans holding tickets to the original September 14 (4:05 p.m.) game will be admitted to the September 11 (6:40 p.m.) game.

Also, fans should be aware that the Phillies’ Independence Blue Cross Senior Stroll the Bases promotion originally scheduled on the September 14 game will now be moved to the Wednesday, August 30, game against the Los Angeles Angels at 1:05 p.m.

They had to do it, because a 4:05 p.m. baseball game leading into the Birds on TNF would have been a total clusterfuck.

Updated schedule for that week:

  • Sunday, 9/10 – Eagles at Patriots, Phillies vs. Marlins
  • Monday, 9/11 – Phillies vs. Braves
  • Tuesday, 9/12 – Phillies vs. Braves
  • Wednesday, 9/13 – Phillies vs. Braves
  • Thursday, 9/14 – Eagles vs. Vikings, Phillies OFF
  • Friday, 9/15 – Phils start three game road series in St. Louis

Good outcome, because it gives the Phils a day off before kicking off a six-game road swing. The Eagles have to play on short rest in week two, but they’ll get an extended break before going down to Tampa for Monday Night Football on September 25th.
