The fine folks behind Philadelphia’s successful campaign to host 2026 World Cup games revealed the city branding and whatnot on Wednesday morning:

Eh, I dunno. It’s big and bold and colorful but somewhat hard to read. Looks like the CW letters on the side of the Eyewitness News building. And then the “We are” makes me think of Penn State and Joe Paterno and James Franklin and my idiot cousin, who I’m pretty sure helped flip an Altoona news truck back in the day.

We are! Not gonna beat Ohio State this year.

But anyway, I’m curious if fans give a shit about this kind of stuff. It’s not that important at the end of the day, but the branding is going to be all over World Cup-related events leading up to 2026, and we’ll see it in photos and chronicles of the event looking back 30 years from now, so that’s something to consider. Ultimately, we just gotta make sure the visitors from all over the world have a good time in Philly. We can’t have people from Turkmenistan and North Korea going back home and saying “man Philly was a shithole, I got hit with a pellet gun while just standing around.
