Valerie Camillo is departing her position at Comcast. Here’s the email that went out to employees a short time ago:

(I cut out the last paragraph, which talks about an employee picnic or something)

This is curious because Camillo just took on a new role with the company back in September as “President and Chief Executive Officer of Spectacor Sports and Entertainment.

Anthony wrote at the time:

“Camillo, 48, who is currently the President of Business Operations, is expected to be given a new title, which is President and CEO of Comcast-Spectacor Sports Entertainment. In this more specific role, Camillo will be the top dog when it comes to the Wells Fargo Center and the business operations side of the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia Wings, the Maine Mariners, and other Spectacor special events.”

Odd timing, yeah? They just made the Danny Briere and Keith Jones moves, rolled out the “New Era of Orange” brand, and got out in front of the media with leadership.

FWIW, Camillo’s job was newly-created when she started in 2018. The setup at the time saw her preside over the business side of things while Paul Holmgren looked over the hockey side. In 2019, Holmgren left that post to become a Senior Advisor to Dave Scott.

I’ll update the story when we learn more on this.
