Nothing like talking about a Christmas album when it’s 95 degrees out and we haven’t even hit Halloween yet! But A Philly Special Christmas is coming back again this year after the album hit #1 on some charts and raised more than $1 million for charity. The second album will  be titled A Philly Special Christmas Special

Here is the official tracklist from a press release:

  • The Christmas Song
  • This Christmas
  • Dominick the Donkey
  • Santa’s Night
  • Christmas Time Is Here
  • All I Want for Christmas Is You
  • Pretty Paper
  • The Dreidel Song
  • Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
  • Fairytale of Philadelphia
  • Auld Lang Syne

DOMINICK THE DONKEY! LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO!

Remember it was Dominick the Donkey and not that fraud Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer who saved Christmas for all the little girls and guidos of Italy:

Lets break down the list:

1. The Christmas Song

A gross miscue from the producers on the first album not having this one on it. You can’t have a Christmas album without chestnuts roasting on an open fire and Jack Frost nipping at your nose. No Christmas album is complete without The Christmas Song. This is a great leadoff hitter. A power leadoff hitter like Kyle Schwarber.

2. This Christmas

Good fucking luck to whoever drew the short straw on this one. This Christmas starts and stops with Chris Brown. I don’t even know who originally wrote it. It doesn’t matter because it is Chris Brown’s now. This is the equivalent to blocking Aaron Donald. The Big Uglies up front might do a great job on this song. They might double or triple team it. He’s still going to break through for at least one sack. Unfortunately any This Christmas will always be second place to this one:

3. Dominick the Donkey

We already touched on this one. I think it’s going to be great! It’s right in the sweet spot. The third or fourth track is always the hit single on an album. Who’s doing the hee-haws is all I want to know? Is it Dom DiSandro? It’s gotta be Big Dom. The people’s Paisan!

4. Santa’s Night

I’ll be honest. I don’t know Santa’s Night. It’s not coming up on YouTube. Apparently Jason Kelce also wrote a song for the album so this might be it. What the fuck can’t that guy do?

5. Christmas Time Is Here

Another classic! This one from A Charlie Brown Christmas:

Don’t know if the Big Uglies are hitting the high note like a group of children can, but I welcome a different version. Maybe they’ll incorporate the Children’s Choir of Philadelphia singing background.

6. All I Want for Christmas Is You

Oh my god. They actually did it. The balls on these guys! If the girls get Mariah Carey’s version now the fellas have their own version. Thank you to the music gods! We needed this. Don’t let us down.

If I had to pick this is the song that will have the most amount of features on it. Like Santa Clause is Coming to Town did last year.

7. Pretty Paper

I’ve never heard of Pretty Paper, but I fuck with it. Has a Blue Christmas vibe to it. Lane Johnson already killed Blue Christmas on the last album I’m sure this will be his on the next:

8. The Dreidel Song

Gotta have The Chosens featured on this song right? If Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie don’t make an appearance what are we doing?

Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel,

I made it out of clay!

And when it’s dry and ready,

I will have already fleeced a GM today, hey!

That’s going #1.

9. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Another classic. Another one they’ll knock out of the park with their baritones. Ol’ Blue Eyes’ time as the king of this song is on the clock at this moment.

10. Fairytale of Philadelphia

T̶h̶i̶s̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶p̶r̶o̶b̶a̶b̶l̶y̶ ̶M̶e̶r̶r̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶R̶e̶e̶s̶e̶ ̶r̶e̶a̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶ ̶b̶e̶a̶u̶t̶i̶f̶u̶l̶ ̶f̶a̶i̶r̶y̶t̶a̶l̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶E̶a̶g̶l̶e̶s̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶s̶ ̶c̶a̶n̶ ̶t̶u̶c̶k̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶s̶e̶l̶v̶e̶s̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶e̶d̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶.̶

UPDATE: Reader Bill sent me this saying he thinks it’ll be a Philly take on the Fairytale of New York by The Pogues. Bill’s most definitely correct:

11. Auld Lang Syne

This song fucks. F-U-C-K-S. FUCKS!

So there it is. 11 songs and I think it’s a better tracklist than last years. You’ve got classics. You’ve got some under the radar joints. You have the Philadelphia Eagles with the help of successful music producers putting together another great album.

There will also be a limited edition LP and limited edition of a double disc released on November 3rd:
