Hope You’re Ready for Arryn Siposs and Britain Covey on Sunday

Eagles special teams coordinator Michael Clay spoke to the media Thursday morning:
#Eagles ST Coordinator Michael Clay was asked about the punter/punt returner situation. He laughed and said we can assume who will be filling those roles…
Safe to say Arryn Siposs and Britain Covey will be elevated from the practice squad to assume their roles from last season. pic.twitter.com/Abp0Wb3uTG

Clay was indeed chuckling while he said that, giving off one of those “worst kept secret” vibes. The Birds released their first unofficial depth chart earlier this week, which featured no punter and no returner, so it was always assumed that Siposs and Covey would be practice team call ups. Now we can safely assume that Sunday’s season opener will feature at least one Shank-o-potamus and at least one instance of Covey catching the ball, moving forward a yard, then getting absolutely plastered (but he won’t fumble). That’s all he has to do, quite frankly. The other option is that Nick Sirianni says “fuck it” like he’s playing Madden and doesn’t punt at all. He just goes for it on every fourth down while Siposs comes out to hold on Jake Elliott’s extra points.
