Happy 15th Anniversary to Donovan McNabb Learning that the NFL has Ties
November 16th, 2008, a day that will live in infamy:
Eagles and Bengals tie 23-23.
In 2008, those two teams also tied, officially making Donovan McNabb aware of the fact that NFL games can end without a winner. pic.twitter.com/LQwAFnmWnY

“I’ve never been a part of a tie. I never even knew that was in the rulebook. But again, it’s part of the rules and we have to go with it, so. I was looking forward to the next opportunity to getting out there and trying to drive to win the game. But unfortunately with the rules, we settle with a tie.”
This game was mostly an abomination from start to finish. It finished 13-13 and Donovan threw three interceptions and lost a fumble as well. The entire offense was an L.J. Smith touchdown following a Hank Baskett bomb, and two David Akers field goals. On the other side, Ryan Fitzmagic (yes he was playing back then) was 29-44 for 261 yards and a TD pass to T.J. Houshmandzadeh, who caught 12 balls for 149 yards. Overtime was hilarious though. There were five straight punts, then Cincy missed a 47-yard field goal. Eagles got the ball back with 7 seconds left on their own 37, Donovan tried to hit Baskett deep, and that was all she wrote!
Great song btw:
