The USFL and XFL are merging, but the Philadelphia Stars aren’t part of the new league, via Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk:

Four have survived. Four have not.

The combined USFL-XFL has informed the USFL Players Association, which has informed its members, that four teams from the USFL will survive for 2024: Michigan, Houston, Memphis, and Birmingham.

Gone are Pittsburgh, New Jersey, New Orleans, and Philadelphia.

Everybody knows that the Stars would have won the 2022 title if Case Cookus didn’t break his leg. Dude was on fire before he had to leave the championship game, then the backup came in and threw a pick-6 and that was pretty much it. They really should have won that game. It was a classic Philly heartbreaker.

But yeah, RIP to the Stars, version 2.0. They never actually played a game in Philadelphia, but they were our guys. What football team are we supposed to root for now, the Eagles?
