The first US city to get a one-of-a-kind Nike store called “World of Flight” is opening in Philly, via Emma Dooling at Philly Biz Journal:

The retailer plans to open a Jordan World of Flight store in the 7,000-square-foot building at 1617 Walnut St. in Rittenhouse Square, according to documents submitted to the Philadelphia Historical Commission. Nike debuted the retail concept in Milan, Italy, in December 2022, dubbing Jordan World of Flight stores “the future of Jordan retail: a destination to celebrate the legacy and future of basketball culture.”

The second Jordan World of Flight opened in Tokyo last March.

No U.S. locations for Jordan World of Flight stores have been publicly announced, making the planned Philadelphia shop one of – if not – the first store in the country.

Milan, Tokyo, Dubai, Philadelphia. The most vibrant and pulsating cultures to lead the world into the future. This is why rage overcomes my body when people talk about travel destinations on their bucket list and don’t include Philly. Milan: Fashion. Tokyo: Technology. Dubai: Humongous buildings. Philly: The 8th sexiest accent in the country and cheesesteaks. What else do you need? Only three places in the world have these one-of-a-kind Jordan Brand needs. New York? Fuck you. San Francisco? I don’t want to get poop on my fresh new Jordans. LA, Chicago, Austin, and Miami? Kick rocks, dorks. The mecca of Jordan Brand resides in the city this great country was founded on. WrestleMania, World Cup, PGA Majors, MLB All Star Game. Stay hot Philly!

Dooling shared some of the renderings from the Historical Commission in her story.
