NFL news:

Araiza was the best punter coming out of college two years ago. The Bills took him and then released him when he was accused of taking part in the 2021 gang rape of a 17-year-old girl, but after many months, no criminal charges were filed, and the accuser ultimately dropped Araiza from her civil suit. Araiza maintained from the beginning that while he had sex with the girl, the encounter was consensual, and he did not know she was underage.

With court proceedings coming to a close, Araiza found himself a free agent and now he gets another chance in the NFL with the Chiefs. His story was shared widely and the Bills took criticism for dropping him without allowing the legal process to play out. There was a window for the Eagles to work out Araiza after the criminal charges were not filed, though the civil suit was still active at the time and they replaced Arryn Siposs with Braden Mann.
