Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns was amazing! I was acknowledging my tribal chief from the beginning, but by the end of the match I was full on wanting to the story to be finished. What a match. Some are calling it the greatest in WrestleMania history. If you were an “Attitude” era kid like me, the nostalgia all came back at once. We had 300-poound men reduced to being children who couldn’t control their emotions:

As a guy that hasn’t watched wrestling in like 15 years, I didn’t know how much Sunday night’s match was going to effect me. But it was AMAZING. Everything you could want if you’re a young or old wrestling fan. A bunch of Attitude era guys and a fan favorite winning the title. We had John Cena running to the ring with potentially a giant dump in his pants, the Rock Bottom, and Undertaker showing up out of nowhere. That gong sound hits every single time btw. The only thing missed was the glass shattering.

This five minute sequence was insane:

Typically, I think you’re a crazy person if you watch wrestling over the age of 15, but I can tell you this the energy down there was awesome. Doesn’t matter if you were a mark like me or you’re head to toe in Macho Man Randy Savage costume. Everyone is great. They’re carrying around $500 championship belts and Stone Cold-ing beers in Eagles jerseys. The only difference from an Eagles tailgate was the lack of “Go Birds” after you got done talking to someone.

I’ve never seen a more divided parking lot than before the show. Roman or Cody? Roman or Cody?

What a WrestleMania. What a week for Philly. This is just a taste of what is in store over the next couple of years. We have the World Cup, MLB All-Star Game, Semiquincentennial, and the PGA (at Aronimink) all in 2026 alone. This city is going to be on the map for a lot more events over the next two years and everyone from out of town that I met loved it here. One guy flew 30 hours from Singapore to go to Mania. First time he was ever in the country and it was in Philly. I’m buying all the Philly stock people are selling.
