Delonte West was Arrested
9:21 AM PT — The Fairfax County Police Department tells TMZ Sports … Delonte West suffered a medical emergency as cops were attempting to arrest him Thursday morning.
Police say officers had been trying to serve a warrant on the former NBA star for violating the conditions of his release … when he took off.
According to the FCPD, during an ensuing foot pursuit, they lost sight of West briefly, before they ultimately discovered him “unresponsive.”
“Narcan was administered by officers,” cops tell us, “but [it] did not have the desired effect. He was transported to a local hospital and Narcan was administered again, which yielded the desired effect. West was released from the hospital and transported to the ADC.”
Just brutal. Delonte has been struggling for years now, but he had turned a corner after Mark Cuban stepped in to get him help.
Long story short, the former St. Joe’s star has struggled with bi-polar disorder since leaving the NBA, and was seen panhandling on the streets of Dallas back in 2020. Cuban tracked him down, reunited him with his mother, and got him into a rehab facility. He later got a job at that same facility and that was the last update we had on him.
Delonte West was arrested early this morning in Virginia on two misdemeanors (violating conditions of release & resisting arrest), where he posed for an alarming mugshot.
Delonte’s being held on $2k bond.
