Forgive me if you already knew this, but I had no idea this was case until I saw this Jeff Kerr tweet from NFL on CBS Media Day:

It’s true. Your Week 10 is going to be spent with Tony Romo seizing during a replay and glazing the Cowboys and it’s gross. A 4:25 Eagles/Cowboys game on CBS doesn’t scream classic rivalry. Thinking of the blue and white chyron makes me feel like we’re playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in some early-season September tilt. It’ll never feel right not having a 4:25 game on FOX. I can’t explain it, but the gold and black colors of the FOX crest with the dun, tuh da dun, tuh da dun, ta da dun, dun, dun lead in makes me feel warm and fuzzy on a cool fall day. I still haven’t gotten over the fact Curt Menefee isn’t throwing it over to Joe and Troy for America’s Game of the Week any longer.

Here’s an exercise. Which theme song gets you more jacked up?

It’s FOX in a landslide! FOX makes me feel like I have a crock pot full of chili ready to go and a six pack of beer in the fridge that I plan on demolishing. My fantasy team is actually playing up to standards for the first time in six weeks and I’ve hit all my 1 p.m. bets. The Eagles are about to kick the shit out of the Cowboys and Monday is going to be amazing. The NFL on CBS song makes me feel like I’m about to watch the Birds lose a stinker to the Jets in MetLife, Saquon Barkley pulled a hammy on the turf, my chili sucked, and I’m down by 50 in fantasy going into Sunday Night Football with a kicker and defense left.

I’m going to be entirely thrown off that day. When I’m scrambling for the remote five minutes before kickoff and put on FOX out of habit it’ll be blood on the NFL’s hands when I miss kickoff because they had to stuff their pockets in the last media deal. Here’s Rob Tornoe at the Inky for more on why the Eagles and Cowboys get CBS this season:

The Eagles’ Week 17 game against the Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field on Dec. 29 will air on Fox, which will likely feature Tom Brady in the booth alongside Kevin Burkhardt, who grew up rooting for the Birds. But in another twist of the schedule, the Eagles’ first game against the Cowboys in Week 10 in Dallas on Nov. 10 will air on CBS, with Tony Romo calling his former team alongside Jim Nantz.

If you think Eagles-Cowboys on CBS seems weird, that’s because it is. It’s the first time the two teams have faced off on the network since 1993, when CBS still had the NFC package (Nantz actually called the network’s last Eagles-Cowboys game). It’s happening this season thanks to the league’s new TV deals, which guarantee CBS gets each NFC team at least once a season, meaning at least one highly rated Cowboys game.

Set an alert on your phone to remind your dad that day. Save yourself an argument that’ll result in you missing the entire first quarter because he can’t find Channel 3.
