Did the Royals Send in a Goon So Garrett Stubbs Couldn't Hit for the Cycle?
Is it a coincidence Garrett Stubbs is batting 1.000 since it was announced he’d be a special guest at the Crossing Broad Phield Day?

I don’t know. But is the CB bump a real thing? Might be something we’ll have to put to the test the next time an athlete does something with us. Matty Michkov? Jalen Hurts? Bryce Harper? Joel Embiid? We’re all ears to collab.
The Phils put up another 11 spot a day after putting up 11 runs. The “save some runs for tomorrow” dads are besides themselves. Who would’ve thought it’d be the backup catcher on a team with a billion-dollar payroll leading from the front. He was a home run short of the cycle:

He was so hot the Royals sent in a goon so he couldn’t get that home run. Who’s managing the Royals? John Chaney?
Still can’t believe the Royals were so threatened by Stubbs yesterday they sent a goon in to throw at his head so he didn’t hit for the cycle pic.twitter.com/X5IJMRh2Uk

Can’t believe the Royals would headhunt a couple weeks after Bobby Witt Jr. had the same exact situation happen to him. Guess the wounds from 1980 are still fresh in that organization.
I love how RAJ is like, “He’s gotta get out of the way!” Real easy to say that 100 yards away in an air-conditioned booth. Did you see the movement on that heater? Do you know how locked in Stubbs probably was? Not to mention it was like 100° in Kansas City. The guy was probably seeing double. We’re in the 9th inning after he caught a game with 10 pounds of extra gear on him. The amount of electrolytes he lost would probably get a small child rushed to CHOP. He’s a borderline hero for what he was able to grind out.
And what did Stubbs do? He took the high road, via Alex Coffey at the Inky:
“He definitely did [feel bad],” Stubbs said. “Garrett Hampson is a good guy. I’ve gotten to play against him for a long time now, all through the minors and the big leagues now. He was probably trying to maybe even feed me in to [hit a homer]. He kind of fed me in a little bit too much.
What a mensch!
Can you believe this is the Royals’ worst nightmare?
