The script writers in the NBA might be the best. No one leans into a storyline like they do. That’s why all the bullshit that surrounds the players during the offseason is most of the time more entertaining than the games being played. And they did it again! Doc Rivers will be back on in the Wells Fargo Center for the first time since getting his pink slip to open up the Sixers’ championship campaign:

So many storylines! Doc returning is the main one, but PG and Doc have traded shots in the media since he got fired from the Clippers. Then you have Giannis vs. Embiid! Giannis vs. the entire Wells Fargo Center arena staff! It’s going to be fireworks!

Far and away my favorite idea for the Doc video tribute:

The real tribute though will be the Bucks going up 20 in the 2nd quarter only to squander it in the 3rd and somehow lose by double digits. He’ll probably call it a “schedule loss.”

ICYMI the Sixers will also be playing on Christmas against the Celtics… in Boston:

Of course it’s away. It’s always away. Another good thing about the Sixers getting their own arena would be that they can play on Christmas. This will be their third straight season playing on Christmas and on the road. Last time they played a Christmas home game they crushed the Bucks all the way back in 2019.  One of my favorite games I ever went to. Christmas games are the best when you don’t have kids. Wake up. Open presents. Head down to the game in the afternoon and then went to dinner at La Fontana Della Citta. They threw us in the basement and we got to chop it up with all the Chosens over some chicken parm. Finished off the night watching the later games at Fox & the Hound (RIP) with a bunch of family-less degenerates. What a day. Don’t have to drive all over the place to go to multiple family parties. Don’t have to make small talk with your girlfriend’s cousins you don’t have anything in common with. It’s truly the best day ever to go to a game.

Does the NBA on Christmas even matter anymore now that the NFL has declared it theirs now?
