There might be a hurricane named Helene coming to Tampa on Thursday, and it’s about the only thing stopping the Eagles from decimating the Bucs a few days later. It’s still a tropical storm at this point but expected to grow into a full-blown category 3 or 4,

According to weather reports, the most severe day of impact will be Thursday, and things are expected to return to normal by Saturday. So if the forecasting is accurate, Sunday’s game is probably safe. Probably. I can’t believe I’m flying down to Florida for this game and now there happens to be a potential hurricane. But then again, this stuff happens once a week down there. Some Floridians even throw “hurricane parties” when storms come in. Seems like the exact opposite of what you’d want to be doing, but again, I think they’re pretty desensitized to this stuff.

The latest track shows Helene moving through the gulf and making landfall somewhere at the “Big Bend,” which is where the panhandle turns into the Florida peninsula:

As for this game, I expect an Eagles stampede. Both teams might be 2-1, but these are not the same teams. Eagles are title contenders, the Bucs aren’t. I will say though, this Eagles team still needs to live up to the hype. One week the Eagles defense gets picked apart, the next weekend they hold the league’s highest scoring team to 12 points. The Eagles also have to deal with some injuries. It seems likely Devonta Smith and A.J. Brown will be out. Whatever, time for another Dallas Goedert legacy game.
