Mets Fans Couldn't Believe They Lost to Cal Stevenson and Buddy Kennedy
If the playoffs began today, Monday, the Mets would squeak in on the second tiebreaker by virtue of their division record. They still have to play the Braves in one more series, which will determine the final Wild Card spot, barring some miracle Cubs run, but it would be funny if the Mets miss out by a half game after losing two of three at the hands of Cal Stevenson and Buddy Kennedy:
Sitting down the Phillies core with ease and then getting owned by Cal Stevenson, Weston Wilson, and Buddy Kennedy

“Cal Stevenson” and “Buddy Kennedy” ending our season on back to back days. I fucking hate it here.

The Mets getting beat by the likes of Cal Stevenson and Buddy Kennedy…sounding like colonels in the Civil War…in the midst of a playoff race…is infuriating.

Cal Stevenson just had the BEST inning of baseball he’ll probably ever have in his professional career… against the Mets.
You can’t make it up at all. #LGM

That last one is funny. “Not only does (Cal Stevenson) hit the go-ahead double, right? The next half-inning he saves his pitcher by robbing a home run. That is the best stretch of an inning that Cal Stevenson will have in his entire career. No disrespect to him, but what he’s produced so far in his career, and what he did against the New York Mets? You can’t make this up.” Hilarious. The Mets had won 11 of 13 coming into CBP, then lost their first series since mid-August. They’ve come so far in the second half, only to find themselves tied for the last Wild Card spot. That’s how much ground they had to make up after the poor start. They get three at home against Washington coming up, but then it’s four at home against the Phils, three in Atlanta, and three in Milwaukee to close it out. It’s gonna be a slugfest for second place.
