I'm Up to 41 Political Phone Calls and 63 Political Texts in October
This isn’t a political post, but since Crossing Broad documents all things ridiculous across the Delaware Valley, here’s a snapshot of my phone and text log in late October:
I didn’t tally the stuff showing up in the mail, but the most I’ve received in one day is five, and the average is 2-3. So if we took 2.5 and multiplied it by the 25 mailing days we’ve had in October, Saturdays included, that would be an estimated 62.5 pieces of political junk, printed in full color of course.
For some context, I’m in Montco, registered no party with a Georgia area code and using an Android. All you people with iPhones, especially Kyle Pagan, can go “straight to hell,” as Maxine Waters once said. But no filters, no call block, none of that, and it’s by design because I wanted to see how much stuff would find its way to me. This month alone, if you add up the calls, texts, and physical pieces of mail, it’s more than 165 instances of political messaging.
There doesn’t seem to be much of a partisan pattern. The texts are about 60/40 Republican/Democrat, while the mail is probably closer to 50/50. It’s almost exclusively Presidential or Senate stuff though, and nothing about the local races. We got maybe one piece of mail from Madeleine Dean and one piece of mail from the local state rep, but nothing on Attorney General or Auditor General or any of those races that no one knows about.
Asking around, it seems like everyone is getting blasted. Seems like it’s worse than it was in 2020 and 2016. Everyone in PA who has yet to vote says they’re getting obliterated like they’ve never been obliterated before. We’re talking worse than what the Dodgers are doing to the Yankees right now. And this doesn’t even include the stuff you’re seeing nationally on television, like the Trump commercial that aired in the middle of the Eagles/Bengals game and felt like it went on for 10 minutes. I’ve also heard from NJ residents who say they’re getting all of the Bob Casey and Dave McCormick commercials since the Philly media market includes South Jersey and part of Delaware. Brutal!
Anyway, six more days and then it is over. Serenity now!
disclaimer: this is not a political post. Crossing Broad does not endorse any political candidates or parties. I just thought the picture of a disapproving Kamala worked
