Not Even Sports Bloggers are Safe from Political Threats These Days

This postcard came in the mail last week. Read the message on the back and tell me this isn’t a threat:
Seems like voter intimidation if you ask me! “…whether you vote is public record,” writes Megan. Yea? Well what are you gonna do if I don’t vote, MEGAN? Are you going to publish a list of sports bloggers who didn’t vote? And then do what with the list, guilt trip us? Ring a bell crying “shame, shame, shame” while we walk up the sidewalk to the Wells Fargo Center? Are we going into the Grover Norquist black book for future intimidation?
“Megan,” or whomever this person is, can go pound sand. Come say it to my face, MEGAN. The postcard links to Pennsylvania’s voter information page, but it was mailed from Oakland, so I’m gonna go ahead and assume they want me to vote for Kamala, since the Bay Area isn’t exactly Trump country. Remember, when people tell you it’s your responsibility to vote, what they really mean is that it’s your responsibility to vote for their candidate. Before we know it, they’re gonna bring back Puff Daddy for a “vote or die” reprise.
I feel like this is a nothing burger, like you throw it in the trash and carry on, but at the same time pisses me off. “Mind your business lady,” as the late DMX once said in the Ruff Ryders’ Anthem. Is this what it’s like to be a Karen? Put these people in jail.
disclaimer: this is not a political post. Crossing Broad is not a political website and does not endorse any particular political party or candidates. the only reason we had Governor Shapiro on the podcast is because he’s a Philly sports fan
