This was a weird one on Wednesday afternoon.

Background: Freddie Mitchell went on the WIP morning show to talk about Green Bay, 4th and 26, and his relationship with Donovan McNabb. About halfway through the segment, he apparently mentioned that Sean Landeta would shave his private parts in the locker room. I went back looking for the audio and sounds like it was dumped and didn’t make it over the air.

Anyway, fast forward a few hours, and the WIP afternoon called up Landeta, thinking that he’d hop on and share a laugh and just sort of roll with it, but instead he was really annoyed. Here’s a portion of that:

It went on for a little big longer, just an awkward segment from start to finish because WIP was expecting one thing and got something different. “You wanted me to talk about that for 25 minutes and tell you more stuff. I understand how it works. It’s all about ratings,” Landeta said. Ike Reese then spent two minutes trying to explain the “full context” of Freddie’s comments, which included Mitchell mentioning that Landeta and Jon Ritchie were good teammates and good locker room guys. The whole thing was strange. And the thing that makes it even more goofy is that Landeta has done work with WIP in the past, and been active in the media in his post-playing career, so he’s familiar with Spike, Ike, and most of the staff. It’s not like some randos called him up and put him on the spot.
