Rex Chapman Raised $100,000 in 12 Hours for Coronavirus Relief

You know Rex Chapman, right? He’s the former NBA player and Twitter personality who does the “block or charge” videos. He’ll post a clip of a skateboarder crashing into an elephant and then ask whether the skateboarder should be whistled for charging, or whether the elephant did not have its feet set.

He was a pretty damn good basketball player, and I’m not sure some of his followers even realize that. Rex was a first round draft pick out of Kentucky in 1988 and played for the Hornets, Bullets, Heat, and Suns over a career that lasted 12 years. Chapman did some TV and worked as a scout for a bit after calling it a career.

A few years back, after a shoplifting arrest, he admitted that he had been battling pill addiction for more than 15 years. As such, he began a foundation to help folks dealing with opioid problems, and last night announced that he was partnering that foundation with another Kentucky foundation to raise money for non-profits battling the Coronavirus pandemic:
