There will be much that is different when the Phillies open their season tonight against the Marlins at Citizens Bank Park. From cardboard cutouts to empty blue seats, the reasons have been well-documented.

Unfortunately, there will be one more unexpected change this evening. Phillies public address announcer Dan Baker will miss the game.

No word yet on the exact nature of Baker’s surgery, but here’s hoping he is O.K. and back behind the mic soon.

There’s nothing better than a Dan Baker intro booming throughout the ballpark over The Sound of Philadelphia, even without fans in the stands.
