Shane Victorino Received Zero Hall of Fame Votes

Lost in the hubbub of the Curt Schilling talk is the fact that other former Phillies were on the 2021 Hall of Fame ballot.

Shane Victorino is a first-time candidate but received 0% of the vote, as you can see here from the spreadsheet with the official voter information shared by the BBHOF:

Victorino was one of five first-ballot players to receive zero votes, a group that also includes Nick Swisher, A.J. Burnett, Michael Cuddyer, and Dan Haren. There was a larger group of first-time guys who were up for nomination, and the player who did the best in the voting was Mark Buehrle, who finished with an 11% final number.

Voting rules stipulate that players who do not reach 5% are removed from the ballot, so that’s it for Victorino. We didn’t expect him in the Hall, but this will officially end his chances. Burnett, too. He’s a former Phillie, even if he was only here for a season.

RE: Bobby Abreu, he only got 8.1%, but he gets to stay on the ballot for a third year. Other guys who just made the cut and kept their chances alive include Tim Hudson and Torii Hunter.

But whatever. Victorino is a world champion… a world fucking champion. All we need to remember is this:
