Charles Barkley Says He Named His Daughter After the Christiana Mall

Charles Barkley has a 32 year old daughter named “Christiana.”
According to him, the inspiration for that name was the Christiana Mall, down in Delaware:

Well, that’s amazing. And listen, it’s a nice spot, Christiana, so if you’re going to be named after a shopping mall, that’s the one. You wouldn’t want to be “Coventry” Barkley or “Granite Run” Barkley or “Neshaminy” Barkley.
I’ve only been to the Christiana Mall once, and it was a mistake. I actually drove down to Delaware Park and Casino for something, and then needed to “swing by” Christiana to grab a gift card. But I learned that there is no “swinging by” Christiana during the holiday season, and I think it took me 45 minutes to get the gift card, then 25 minutes to get back on the highway. There had to be 500,000 people there. It was quite the experience.
