Jayson Stark Thinks Kyle Schwarber is the Phillies’ “Guy”

Did the additions of Brad Hand, Jeurys Familia, and Odubel Herrera excite you?
Didn’t think so.
But one of the big remaining free agents should, and on the Mikey Miss show Tuesday, Jayson Stark dropped a couple of nuggets, noting that Kyle Schwarber seems to be target 1A:

Kris Bryant is the preferred fan target when you peruse social media feeds, but there’s a lot of smoke about him wanting to go elsewhere. We’ll find out if that’s real or bullshit, but you do get the idea that people would be happy with one of Bryant/Schwarber/Castellanos. Just give us something, Dave Dombrowski.
In terms of overpaying via years, which Stark mentions, Bryant just turned 30 and Schwarber just turned 29. They’d both get something taking them into their mid-30s at the very least, which is palatable and seemingly inevitable here, because you are a “win now” type of mode and have already committed money to prime Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, etc. And they do need a top of the order guy. Unless you’re jonesing for lead-off Odubel, it’s a little foggy on what’s gonna happen with that portion of the lineup.
Need to sign one of these three guys or else this offseason is gonna be super blahhh. Save us.
