Here’s a RADIO WARS story involving two of our all-time favorite 97.5 the Fanatic callers, Vincente from Ecuador/Lansdowne, and Bernie from Broomall.

Monday, Vicente scared the shit out of us when he called Mike Missanelli’s show and said this:

As a quick aside, I love how Vicente pivots from talking about Bernie’s alleged passing to making a Tyrese Maxey comment.

“So yeah, Bernie is dead, but let me get to my Sixers point.”

Very much on brand for the typical Philadelphia radio caller right there.

Luckily, however, what Vicente heard was wrong, because Tyrone later confirmed that Bernie of Broomall is not dead, but he is very much alive:

I’m not sure how the rumor got started, but it had been floating around out there. Bernie was, indeed, sick, but does still call from time to time. It’s not nearly as frequent as it used to be. Bernie was on at least once per week about 7-10 years ago, and sometimes appeared multiple times during the week. He did station events and came to the studio and all of that.

This is a violation on Vicente for scaring the bejesus out of us. My heart skipped a beat when I heard that. As punishment, Vicente is hereby banned from calling 97.5 for two weeks and must apologize for spreading misinformation. Vicente from Lansdowne is fake news!
