Josh Sweat Says He’ll Be Back This Season

His words:
Thank you for your prayers and support 🙏🏾 I’ll be back this season! #GoBirds
— Josh Sweat (@SweatyJ_9) January 2, 2023
Sweat had to leave the game during the first drive after going down while making a tackle in the backfield. On replay, it looked like his neck got jammed up pretty badly.
The late Sunday update was that Sweat was released from the hospital with feeling throughout his body, and he’s expected to go through testing on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. It would be huge if they can get him back, considering he’s up to 11 sacks on the year and the Birds don’t have much depth on the edge behind the trio of Sweat, Haason Reddick, and Brandon Graham. Derek Barnett was lost for the season and Robert Quinn is on IR, so the Birds will take any positive injury news they can get, especially with Jalen Hurts, Avonte Maddox, Lane Johnson, and CJGJ already on the shelf. We’re running out of room on this shelf.
