Fan Responsive, Taken to Hospital After Falling into Bullpen at Citizens Bank Park

The Phillies/Red Sox game was delayed Friday night when a fan fell into the Boston bullpen:
Phillies said the fan who sustained injuries after falling into bullpen in the first inning was transported to Jefferson Hospital for treatment and was conscious and responsive upon leaving the ballpark.

Good news there.
They had EMTs and Phillies trainers on the scene right away. The fan got busted up pretty good and his right eye was swollen shut. You can see how far he fell here:

No official word yet on what exactly happened here. There’s some speculation online that there was a ball sitting on the ledge, and he fell trying to retrieve it, but that is not confirmed. I’m sure we’ll get an account from someone who was there and saw what happened, but at least the dude is okay. From the video they were showing, the Boston players seemed pretty shaken up. It definitely could have been much worse.
