Marlins GM Reportedly Declined Option After Team Wanted to Hire President of Baseball Ops

Marlins GM Kim Ng declined her mutual option on Monday after the team exercised their side of it. Now Jeff Passan is reporting this:
The Miami Marlins wanted to hire a president of baseball operations over general manager Kim Ng, leading to her departure from the organization, sources told ESPN.
When reached, Ng declined comment. But sources said she would’ve been the No. 2 after constructing a playoff team.

We are laughing at the Marlins because Kim Ng did a good job down there. Put together the roster that won 80+ games for the first time since 2010, and did it with Major League Baseball’s 24th-highest payroll. You don’t often go to the postseason when you’re a poverty franchise in a division with high spenders.
People seem to think Ng might land with the Red Sox. Would be interesting. The Sox were ass this year but they’ll spend money and you’re curious to see how Ng would do in a setting like that.
