Your team, your town, your Philadelphia 76ers will pick third in the NBA Draft. There was a flub earlier from Philly guy Kevin Negandhi, who gave us all a heart attack when he announced that the pick was going to the Thunder, before correcting himself:

It’s gonna be Dallas, San Antonio, Philly, Charlotte, in that order. The Mavericks will land Cooper Flagg, which is gross considering the fact that they went in with a 1.8% chance to land the top pick. Of course, NBA conspiracy theorists will believe the Mavs were rewarded with #1 overall in return for sending Luka Doncic to a large market. Everyone put on your tinfoil hat!

What’s important, and the big story on Action News, is that the Sixers did not get dicked. We probably all went into this thinking the worst and expecting the worst. Instead, we got a nice surprise, keeping the pick sent to OKC in the Al Horford trade and ending up with #3 overall. Now the pick will convey as top four protected in 2026 instead.

Drafting third overall means the Sixers will get a crack at one of Ace Bailey, Tre Johnson, Kon Knueppel, V.J. Edgecombe, or maybe consensus second-best prospect Dylan Harper depending on what happens with the Spurs. They’re interesting at #2 because they’ve got De’Aaron Fox, Devin Vassell, Stephon Castle, and Chris Paul in that backcourt. Maybe they trade out? Maybe Nico Harrison does something really dumb? You can never be sure.

We’ll dive into all of these guys over the next few weeks but what’s important is that the Sixers are back baby! We believe! Play the song!
