Things HEATING UP in the NL East as Mets Trade for Gregory Soto

Oh boy! Things are heating up in the NL East:
Phillies legend Gregory Soto, who made a handful of unremarkable appearances in the 2023 postseason. He was traded to the Orioles last year for prospects Seth Johnson on and Moises Chace, finishing his Philly career with a 4.42 ERA over 112 appearances spanning two seasons. He got his ERA down to 3.96 with the Os this year, pitching 36 innings for a team that totally stinks. Last place in the AL East. Soto is still only 30 years old and a few years removed from those All-Star seasons in Detroit, but he’s been pretty good against lefties in 2025.
The ball is now in Dave Dombrowski’s court. The Mets made a move. Will he COUNTER with Oneil Cruz? Perhaps the rumored Emmanuel Clase and Steven Kwan double move? Does he pull an Oscar the Grouch and go dumpster diving for bullpen arms? It’s do or die! We’re waiting!
