Matt Strahm passed a physical on Monday, meaning his contract with the Phillies in 2026 is now guaranteed, Dave Dombrowski announced on Tuesday afternoon:
Strahm, who started a new contract in 2025, was on the payroll this season for $7.5M. He had a vesting option in 2026 for $7.5M as long as he reached 60 innings pitched and passed a physical at the end of this regular season.
He finished the 2025 regular season with a 2.74 ERA in 62.1 innings, tallying a 1.07 WHIP and 70 strikeouts with a 3.5 K/BB ratio. The lefty will be a big arm for the Phillies in the postseason.
A good portion of the top half of the bullpen will be under contract in the 2026 season. Jhoan Duran is under contract, Orion Kerkering is still pre-arbitration, and Tanner Banks will reach his first year of arbitration this offseason. Now, Strahm will be back for $7.5M.
