New York Giants Can Brian Daboll
It had to happen after another late collapse:
The Giants fell to 2-8 after blowing a 10-point, fourth-quarter lead to the Bears. That follows games against the Broncos and Cowboys that they should have won.
On one hand, you feel bad for Daboll because he finally got his guy in Jaxson Dart, but had to do the obligatory “we’re gonna start the veteran QB for as long as we have to routine,” which resulted in an 0-3 start with Russell Wilson. The Giants lost Malik Nabers early, then lost Cam Skattebo in Philadelphia and now Dart is racking up concussions. They absolutely had to shitcan Daboll after the multiple collapses. If they held on against the Broncos and Bears and they’d be 4-6 with the slightest of outside chances at staying in the playoff race. But now they play Green Bay, Detroit, and New England in consecutive weeks and will probably come out of that stretch 2-11. They are absolutely cooked.
Not only that, but Daniel Jones looks like the second coming of Y.A. Tittle out there in Indy. Carlie Irsay-Gordon is wearing the headset and the Colts are ROLLING. Saquon Barkley ran for a million yards in Philadelphia last season and won a Super Bowl. So it just seems like everything the Giants let go of turns to gold, and everything they retain withers and dies, like a football disease. You have to cut it out at the source. GM Joe Schoen should be next.
The Giants have had one winning season since 2016. They’ve gone through Ben McAdoo, interim Spags, Pat Shurmur, and Daboll in the same time frame that the Eagles have gone to three Super Bowls.
EDIT – he survived, incredible:
