Phish are doing their first ever partnership with a professional sports team and it happens to be the Flyers when Phish night happens on Thursday, January 8th against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Here are more details:

Join us for Phish Night with the Flyers. Each ticket includes a limited-edition Flyers x Phish co-branded t-shirt and pregame entertainment by Rift, hosted by WMMR’s Casey Boy from the Preston & Steve Show. Come for the music, stay for the game, and celebrate two Philly favorites—Flyers hockey and Phish! Plus, a portion of each ticket sold benefits The WaterWheel Foundation, supporting important causes in the Phish community.

Listen, I’ll be honest I have a loose knowledge of Phish. Kinker is the music junkie and he’s out all week, but from my loose understanding I don’t think you could put two more opposite fanbases in an arena together. I think of Flyers fans as your mongrels from Delco who take on the Broad Street Bully mentality every time they go to a game. They can’t get into Xfinity Mobile Arena before someone at the door checks to make sure they have a Flyers tattoo somewhere on their person. I mean this is what happened the last time the Maple Leafs came to town:

On the other hand when I think of a Phish fan I think of the chillest guy in the world. A guy who loves listening to the same song for 90 minutes on LSD. Basically every guy in this Channel 5 video. Music is their religion and when they die they just want to come back as a song. Every Flyers fan could use a little of what these Phish fans are on after the fanbase was completely ripped apart by what Coots said or didn’t say about Matvei Michkov:

This is a collab completely out of left field…or is it? Turns out the lead guitarist, Trey Anastasio, is a huge Flyers fan:

Shoutout to Trey. This feels kind of like a lifetime achievement award from the Flyers. A thank you for being a solid public figure and a Flyers fan through all these years of heartbreak. Here’s a Phish night for your troubles. I’ll tell you what, screw the 9/9/9 challenge lets do the 3/3/3 challenge. Three tabs, three dabs, in three periods. Nobody will be wearing their Phish shirt by the end of the game:
