Herr's 2025

We at Crossing Broad are proponents of the Herr’s “Flavored by Philly” contest, and ahead of this summer’s Semiquincentennial the annual competition is changing up a bit, explained via press release:

NOTTINGHAM, Pa. – Herr’s iconic Flavored by Philly campaign is back – and this year, it’s making snack history. In honor of America’s 250th birthday, Herr’s is celebrating the flavors of freedom, liberty, and unity that define both Philadelphia and our nation with Flavored by Philly: Taste the 250.

For the past four years, Herr’s has turned to the people of Philadelphia to help shape its most mouthwatering chip flavors. Now, to commemorate 250 years of American flavor and Philly pride, the brand is once again putting the power in the hands — and taste buds — of its hometown fans.

This year’s Flavored by Philly comes with a fresh twist: rather than submitting new flavor ideas, fans will select from a curated lineup of flavors inspired by the American ideals of FreedomLiberty, and Unity. Now it’s up to Philadelphians to decide which flavor best embodies the heart of the American story.

This special edition of Flavored by Philly pays tribute to the bold, authentic spirit that has always defined America’s birthplace. Each flavor concept — Freedom, Liberty, and Unity — represents an idea that helped shape the American story. Now, Herr’s is asking: What do those ideas taste like to you?

How to Vote

Philadelphians can cast their votes online at Herrsflavoredbyphilly.com from November 12th to December 10th.  The top three chip flavors, chosen by popular vote, will hit shelves in June 2025, just in time to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

Go to the website above and you’ll see nine flavors divided into three categories. In the “freedom” category you can choose from loaded cheese fries, cheesy crab dip, and cheesy bread. In the “liberty” category it’s roasted garlic BBQ, hickory BBQ, and hot honey BBQ. And in the “unity” category the choices are jalepeno cream cheese, lemon pepper, and manga habanero. I voted for loaded cheese fries, hickory BBQ, and jalapeno cream cheese. Power to the people!

When you vote, you’re entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a Herr’s gift basket with snacks, merch, and a $100 gift card.

If you recall recent competition years, there were three separate competitions involving three separate flavors each. That included, in order, Wiz Wit, Long Hots, 215 Special Sauce, Tomato Pie, Roast Pork, Korean BBQ, Cheese Ravioli, Special Hot Stromboli, and Potato Pierogi. This past summer, they took the winner of each of those three years and pitted them against each other like Ken Jennings and James Holzhauer in the Jeopardy tournament of champions. The ultimate winner was Long Hots, but I personally thought Roast Pork was the best.

Anyway, to each their own. Vote early and vote often! Voting kicks ass!
