An Improbable One-Point Sixers Comeback Sounded Incredible with Tom McGinnis on the Radio Call

The Sixers led the Warriors by 24 points at one point during Thursday night’s game at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Golden State outscored the Sixers 32-17 in the fourth quarter to eventually take a 98-97 lead with less than 10 seconds to play in regulation. And that led to what is possibly the most exciting Sixers sequence of the season thus far:
“VJ looking, he goes to Maxey. Maxey against Milton. Sixers down by one. They double Maxey. Maxey dribbles to the right side, hangs, fires, short. Rebound up, AND IN! Bona put it in! 0.9 [left]. Warriors in-bound. Melton has it. Melton puts it it-BLOCKED! And the Sixers win the game! And they storm the court! The 76ers win by a point!”
McGinnis was so excited that he didn’t realize Edgecombe was the one to tip in the game-winner. There’s not one person who expected that ending, so it certainly qualifies as a THRILLER! We’ll ignore the bad shot from Maxey because it gave us the EXCITING PUTBACK by Edgecombe. Then Maxey FLIES across the court to BLOCK Melton’s shot for the game-winning play. 10-9-8-76ERS, BABY!
