The Eagles Will Win Super Bowl 61
By now you’ve probably figured out that the Eagles alternate between Super Bowl appearances and first round exits.
Since 2021, when Jalen Hurts became the starter:
- lost to Bucs in the first round
- went to the Super Bowl
- lost to Bucs in the first round
- went to the Super Bowl (ended the Chiefs dynasty)
- lost to 49ers in the first round
- (will go to the Super Bowl)
There pattern here is obvious. You go to the Super Bowl, lose your offensive coordinator, hire a shit coordinator, then replace him with a good coordinator and go back to the Super Bowl.
It’s contingent on the Birds firing Kevin Patullo and bringing in the right play caller for 2026. And it doesn’t matter if it’s a one-year guy who leaves for another job. Why? Because who cares? You’ve won the Super Bowl. Kellen Moore was always going to leave. Shane Steichen was going to leave. If the tradeoff for losing your coordinator is going to the Super Bowl, then sign me up!
That’s why the Eagles should go after a guy like Mike McDaniel. Take a swing on someone who can really unlock this offense and get it going again. Most of the core is coming back anyway. You’ll have Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, and probably A.J. Brown, unless that relationship is irreparable. The OC will have a healthy Lane Johnson, we think, a healthy Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens, an improved Jordan Mailata (he had a bad season), and hopefully an improved right guard, whether it’s Tyler Steen or someone else. Maybe Dallas Goedert comes back on a two-year deal and/or Howie works some magic there.
This is the type of job that should be attractive to OC candidates. In the case of McDaniel, the Browns job is a dead end. What’s he gonna do, go there and coach Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel? Give me a break. He’ll be fired in three seasons and following Hue Jackson and Freddie Kitchens to college football. Not a single person goes to Cleveland, find any kind of success, and then experiences a soft landing. If McDaniel or someone similar comes here, he’ll be good for 1-2 seasons and then take his pick of head coach jobs with better quarterback situations. The Buffalo and Pittsburgh jobs are going to be open within 1-2 years. You heard it here first.
The Eagles OC job is better than some of the head coaching jobs out there. This is not a hot take!
