Cristopher Sanchez will Pitch for the Dominican Republic at the World Baseball Classic
Cristopher Sanchez is going to the WBC:
“The stellar left-hander Cristopher Sánchez, of #Phillies, overcame all protocols to join the Dominican Republic team that will compete in the World Baseball Classic.”
The WBC is March 5th through the 17th, split between Miami, Houston, San Juan, and Tokyo. The Phils season opener is March 26th against the Rangers at Citizens Bank Park.
You’re always concerned about these guys throwing competitive games before a long season even begins, but it is what it is. It’s an honor to represent your country in an event like this, and Sanchez is gonna be on a powerhouse team that has no issues hitting the baseball, but has historically been weaker with its starting rotation. He’s exactly what that team needs.
The Phillies slated for the WBC right now are Kyle Schwarber, Bryce Harper, and Brad Keller for Team USA. Aaron Nola is pitching for Italia and Cy-Juan Walker for Mexico. Garrett Stubbs will catch for Israel and Johan Rojas and Edmundo Sosa will play for the Dominicans and Panamanians, respectively.
